A: In order to ensure the best possible outcome the surgery in our clinic is performed by the same consultant who has attended to your diagnosis. In most NHS facilities the surgeon or registrar who has attended to your diagnosis may not be the same person who attends to your surgery. The latest and most sophisticated lenses are available to patients at our clinic. Many of these lenses are not provided by NHS hospitals. This enables our ophthalmologists to choose lenses best suited for your particular condition and/or needs. Our facility is equipped with the latest computerised and technologically advanced equipment. This is of importance when it comes to precise diagnosis, determining the best treatment and most suitable outcome for your particular condition. In the NHS you will have to wait for a diagnostic appointment and a date on which the surgery can be performed. In our facility an appointment for diagnosis and surgery can be arranged without any waiting period. By specializing in eyes only in a day surgery environment we have minimized exposure to MRSA and other hospital acquired infections.
A: A dedicated eye clinic is built, equipped and staffed with the aim to attend to eye related ailments. By doing so the entire facility is specially focused on eyes only. This enables us to ensure that the best possible equipment is used and the best possible outcome is achieved. In a dedicated eye unit patients are only exposed to other patients with eye related problems. The risk associated with MRSA and exposure to other unwanted diseases is therefore minimised. Superspecialised and dedicated eye clinics are becoming more and more the accepted norm when it comes to eye surgery. Today more than 50% of all eye procedures which are attended to in the USA are performed in day clinics. The COS makes use of the latest technology and has been equipped with state of the art equipment to attend to the needs of its patients. It is almost impossible for multidisciplinary hospitals to achieve the same level of sophistication. The staff at the COS are purpose trained in cosmetic and ophthalmology and have many years of experience. They are dedicated to the wellbeing of our patients within the high standard of care delivered by the COS. The price applicable to surgery performed at the COS is lower than the price which is charged for similar procedures by private hospitals. As a super specialised unit we are able to function more cost effectively than multidisciplinary hospitals.
